Surfers Against Sewage launch 'Ocean and Climate Petition'

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

The marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage launched the Ocean and Climate Petition today, to demand that the UK government recognises the importance of a thriving ocean and utilises its capacity as a solution to the climate crisis.

The UK are set to host the 26th UN Climate Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021. SAS are advocating for our government to honour their responsibility to our blue planet, and the populations who depend on it, by placing the ocean at the centre of climate change negotiations. To ensure this happens, the SAS petition is calling for:

1. Ocean rewilding and blue carbon habitat restoration

2. Implementation of Highly Protected Marine Areas

3. Recognition of the importance of marine ecosystems for human wellbeing

To add your support to the petition, and sign, visit the petition through this link.
